MEET THE BOARD

Rupert Robinson is an energetic and passionate leader dedicated to empowering youth. His mission is to inspire them not only to improve their own lives but also to uplift those around them with positive ideas and actionable plans. 

A qualified medical doctor from the University of Cape Town (UCT), Rupert spent six years working in rural Mpumalanga, providing crucial healthcare services. Currently, he is furthering his studies in Paediatric and Child Health at his alma mater, UCT. He holds diplomas in child health and healthcare management and leadership. 

Rupert's unique sense of humour and infectious laughter make him a memorable mentor who inspires youth to strive for more and achieve better. As a volunteer doctor with SHAWCO, he provides free primary healthcare services to communities around Cape Town and enjoys teaching young health professionals, sharing his knowledge and tips, particularly in child health. 

Since 2022, Rupert has been serving in the leadership of SAMATU, the doctors' union that empowers healthcare professionals in South Africa, and he is currently the Western Cape coordinator.

Itumeleng Tsatsi-Mosala is an Occupational Therapist whose passion is in mental health and community reintegration of long-term mental health care users, including promotion of occupational justice with mental health care users. Her occupational therapy career started at the University of Cape Town and was followed by community service at Zebediela Hospital in the Limpopo Province. She was then placed at Thabamoopo Hospital where she served for almost 5 years before joining academia at the University of the Free State. While serving at Thabamoopo hospital, she was confronted with occupational injustices faced by long term mental health care users. This led her to pursue her master’s degree with Stellenbosch University with the aim of optimizing the hospital halfway house to meet occupational needs of her patients. 

She is currently a lecturer in the Occupational Therapy department at the University of Witwatersrand. In 2018, Tsatsi-Mosala was recognized as an influential young South African by the Mail and Guardian 200 young South Africans as a trailblazer in the Occupational Therapy profession. Following which, in 2019 she was recognized by News 24 as part of 100 Young Mandelas of the Future under the category vision, for her contribution in occupational therapy mental health research. In 2024, Tsatsi-Mosala was selected for the WITS Female Academic Leadership Fellowship (FALF). She now serves in the Occupational Therapy Africa Regional Group (OTARG) executive committee as vice president for marketing and fundraising and the Occupational Therapy Association of South Africa (OTASA) occupational science committee as secretary. She serves as the editorial board member for the South African Journal of Occupational Therapy (SAJOT). She is a founder and host of Occupational Perspective, a podcast that celebrates Occupational Therapy trailblazer across the globe.

As a passionate advocate for youth development, Maggie Mafavuke believes that every young person deserves the chance to thrive, regardless of their background. She is is a young, black woman and experienced speech therapist with over 12 years in practice, and she has seen first-hand how critical it is for young people to have access to resources that nurture their personal growth. Her background in speech therapy has inspired a deep commitment to help young South Africans find their voices-both literally and metaphorically - so they can confidently navigate their futures.

Her vision is to see a generation of young people who are confident, empowered, and prepared to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond. 
Maggie Mafavuke
Treasurer 
A passionate advocate for Social Justice, Mental Health, and building healthy communities, Mokgadi Kamogelo Raboshakga combines her extensive background in television and print media with her current work in Marketing and Communications in the mining sector. With a Degree in Journalism, she has spent her career reporting on social issues and advocating for change through compelling storytelling.

Now working in the mining industry, Mokgadi applies her skills in communications, public relations, and digital marketing to drive positive engagement and amplify key messages around sustainability, community development, and corporate responsibility. Her work in this space reflects her commitment to promoting both environment and social justice, using her platform to create transparency, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and build trust.

Mokgadi Kamogelo Raboshakga
PR and Marketing Director
Intrigued by human behavior as well as the art and science of doing in their respective environments, Nondumiso Irene Bikitsha studied Occupational Therapy at the University of Cape Town. This opportunity further enhanced her interests in young people and exposed her to the beauty of doing, being, becoming; a concept which contributes to her practice.  She is a registered Occupational Therapist with a special interest in adolescence, Neurodivergence, community and mental health. To enhance her skills over the years she has completed play therapy, child health and 'kidpreneur' courses.

As an entrepreneur and business management scholar she runs an OT private practice and is building within the herb and plant industry.   Committed to empowering young people, facilitating peace and contributing to the country and continents socioeconomic status she founded Quietude Projects.
